Kratos Aurion vs. Darth Vader

A long time ago (around Episode V to be exact) in a galaxy far far away…..

The giant meteor Derris-Kharlan floated through space. Upon it was a massive city built and inhabited by half-elves that had evolved into beings that looked similar to angels. But after the fall of their leader Mithos, there was only one now. The last of the Four Seraphim, Kratos Aurion. His last words to his son rang through his head on occasion. Don’t die before I do, Lloyd. But Kratos had lived for over 400 years with eternal youth. On the other hand, he wasn’t about to throw his life away. He wanted to put it to use. To help those in need. To put a stop to those who were like he was once, or those like Mithos.

But fate (and Derris-Kharlan’s trajectory path) was about to take an unexpected turn today. A turn towards the gaseous planet of Bespin. Sensing a great and horrifying evil upon a city in the clouds, Kratos traveled there using a teleporter.

Darth Vader had cornered Luke Skywalker on a balcony over a great mechanical pit. “Obi-Wan never told you about your father.”

“He told me enough! He told me you killed him!” Luke raged, barely hanging onto a machine with no ground beneath it.

A moment later, Kratos began to approach the scene. He heard Luke sob “No…that’s not true…that’s impossible…”

“Search your feelings. You know it to be true.”

“……NOOOOOO!!!!!” Luke fell over the side and into the abyss.

Catching Vader completely off-guard, Kratos pointed Excalibur to the back of the Sith Lord’s neck. He spoke the words of Yuan, recalling exactly what it was like to hear them. “How does it feel to have your own son reject you like that?”

Vader did not move, though still had a tight grip on his activated Lightsaber. “It feels slightly disappointing. He would’ve been a powerful ally to my master.”

“I once thought like you. Maybe I was even worse. I won’t let another walk down the path I took.”

“My path…is none of your business!” Vader swung the Lightsaber back, but not slicing through it. “What?!”

Kratos seized the opportunity and slashed at Vader, cutting a bit through his black suit.

“But how?!”

“This sword was forged by the gods themselves. It cannot be broken.”

“That may be, but you can!”

Darth Vader made a vertical slash. Kratos blocked, and then countered with a Lightning Blade! However, Vader dodged to the side, being only grazed by the attack. He blew Kratos back with a Force Push. Kratos hit the balcony railing, and then leapt back up on his feet.

“Eruption!” A burst of flames rose up and consumed Vader, who (somewhere along the line) had developed a great distaste for volcanic heat. Cursing, he rushed at Kratos, who blocked and countered with a blast of Hell Pyre. Vader jumped back, though was hit by a follow-up Hurricane Thrust.

It was a long battle, but Kratos was proving to be the superior of the two. However, his offensive ability was dramatically reduced because he was focusing on the Sith Lord’s Lightsaber. Kratos had landed many blows and it was showing in the many cuts and burns on Vader’s suit. He was fortunate though, as his life support had suffered minor damage. Needless to say, he would be doomed if it were to be destroyed or hit with electricity. Kratos had only received minor amounts of damage from Vader’s Force powers, but they spelled danger because they could quickly and unexpectedly disorient him, giving Vader the split second he needed to finish him. Kratos was being cautious; though he was clearly dealing the most damage, all it took was one bad Lightsaber wound to end everything.

Kratos blasted lightning at Vader, who retaliated by pushing back with the Force. A power struggle began as they pushed their energies back and forth. But the Force was very strong with Darth Vader, and Kratos was pushed into the abyss of Cloud City’s center.

Vader slowly walked toward the railing, looking over the edge. “…Impossible. I should still be able to see his body falling. So where is he?”

Kratos had used his angel wings to fly underneath the balcony and charge up his best attack. He had the mighty Sith Lord completely off-guard. “Judgment!” Beams of light rained down upon Vader! The balcony was blasted to ruin and Vader heavily damaged. Kratos landed and charged at him, ready to plunge Excalibur into the life support system.

But at the last second, Darth Vader Force Pushed Kratos to the balcony’s edge. Having no time to react, he felt the Lightsaber pierce his heart. Kratos looked down to see the red blade turn off, releasing a gush of blood from his chest. Vader grabbed Kratos by the neck, using a cruel combination of physical and Force choke.

As he began to die, blood flowed out of Kratos’ mouth and onto Vader’s black gloves. He barely managed to speak. “It’s…never…too late…to change…Never…”

And with that, Kratos’ body hung limp in Vader’s fist. The Sith Lord dropped the body. The last words spoken to Lloyd had been fulfilled.

“Lord Vader!” Stormtroopers rushed to his aid. “You’ve been injured seriously. Your life support system needs repairing... and the rest of you as well. Please, let us escort you to a medical station.”

“Yes, we must leave.” Before he left, Darth Vader took one last glance at Kratos’ corpse.

“It is...too late for me.”

But over time, Vader realized he was wrong. Just as Kratos Aurion had been saved by his son Lloyd, Anakin Skywalker would one day be saved by Luke.
